X-Men Light -Up Classics - 1996

This series is mostly a series of remakes, except for Psylocke. Gambit, Nightcrawler, and Juggernaut all could use remakes to make them look more like the newer figures. Psylocke got her first figure finally. This series also had a repaint series which changed the Psylocke figure to an Elektra figure.

Elektra

Changed the hair black and the outfit red and gave her a headband and you have Elektra. Kind of an odd choice for an X-Men line but she did occasionally hang out with Wolverine. Plus the easy repaint made it easy to include her.

Gambit

A new Gambit was needed to replace the scrawnier previous version. This Gambit looked much rougher like he did in the comics and featured throwing cards as well as a coat that looked really good. Not only that but the articulation is very well done as well. The only thing he lacks is elbow movement.

Accessories: Cards, Staff

Gambit Repaint

Changed to resemble the standard yellow and blue X-Men outfit he wore around Uncanny X-Men #275. His coat is a little darker than the normal version.

Juggernaut

This Juggernaut looked much more like Juggernaut than the first series one did. The removable helmet was a very nice touch. I think the legs are a bit too short compared to his arms, but it is still a great figure. I would have liked to see a 6 inch version of him.

Figure ability: Light up hammer
Accessories: Hammer, Helmet

Juggernaut Repaint

The colors were changed to more of a gold and black coloring. His hammer is colored yellow instead of the normal red (it still lights up red). Also, he had blue eyes instead of black ones in this version. The costume version does look sort of like a black and gold version of his costume he wore when he was briefly an X-Man, though that was years after this repaint was done.

Nightcrawler

Another remake in this series, this replaces the old first series Nightcrawler with a more demonic looking one. This is an excellent likeness of the character although I'm not sure why he has a large grin on his face. The figure doesn't have any articulation in his elbows, but does have it in his feet. The tail is also somewhat articulated as it can be moved around.

Figure ability: Light up sword
Accessories: Flaming sword

Nightcrawler Repaint

Repainted so all the red parts are silver, and the handle of his sword is black instead of gold. Also, his blue skin is slightly lighter than the normal version.

Psylocke

Psylocke's first figure was different than the one shown on the backs of figures. Her hair is blown to the side versus lying down as shown on the promo pictures. I liked the one in the promo picture better, as the hair to the side looks kind of odd. Still, it is a great figure. While she does not have any elbow articulation she does have articulation in the knees and feet. This figure would be reused many times on a lot of different figures.

Stealth Wolverine

This is another Wolverine, with a modified darker version of his current outfit. The version is a bit more detailed, as all his muscles have a little more definition than previous figures. His face seems to be sculpted to appear as though he is yelling but it didn't come out quite right in the end. This is also one of the few Wolverine figures to feature claws on only one hand.

Figure ability: Light up gun
Accessories: Gun, Large belt, Small belt

Wolverine Repaint

Wolverine's variant is painted up in his classic yellow and blue tiger stripe costume. Nothing else is different.
