Phoenix

Jean Grey was an interesting character in terms of figures. She never got a decent figure of how she looked in her comic costume. There would be figures that were very close, but always had one flaw. Included are all incarnations of Jean Grey, like the Phoenix.

Phoenix

X-Men Phoenix Saga - 1994

X-Men Phoenix Saga (Rerelease) - 1995

This is actually the first version on a Jean Grey figure produced. The figure itself is really good. The launcher pad is supposed to make her fly, but it doesn't really work that well. The pad originally was packaged with Cannonball. The figure has good articulation and also features a light up head when a button on her back is pushed, making her hair and eyes light up. She was the toughest figure in this lineup to find.

Figure ability: Light up head
Accessories: Launch Pad

Marvel Hall of Fame Series 2 - 1996

This is a repaint of a Domino figure of a Jean Grey that is close to how she looked in the comics. The only thing is she never had all those belts and cables on her. Still, it is one of the better Jean Grey figures that were made of her in this outfit. The yellow used on the costume seems a little too bright though, as I thought it was more of an orange in the comics.

Figure ability: Missile launching guns
Accessories: Gun pieces x2, Missles x2

Dark Phoenix

Marvel Universe '96 Series 3 - 1996

This is the same figure that was in the X-Men Phoenix Saga, but painted up like Dark Phoenix. This is a good idea since Phoenix and Dark Phoenix looked pretty much the same.

Figure ability: Light up hair
Accessories: None

Jean Grey

X-Men Space Riders - 1997

This is the first Jean Grey figure released in the series. She doesn't look too bad except for all the extra space equipment she is wearing. I know many fans were disappointed with this figure. Articulation-wise she is not bad with the usual points. Like the other figures in this wave she comes with an oxygen mask.

Figure ability: Space ship piece
Accessories: Spaceship, Missiles x2, Mask

Jean Grey

X-Men Onslaught - 1997

The only figure of Jean Grey that was exactly like she was in the comics, except that this one was too tall to look right with the other figures. The figure comes with the Cytorak Gem with the Juggernaut trapped inside. She and Wolverine both fit better in the 6 inch scale of Marvel Legends and X-Men Classics.

Figure ability: Psychic claw
Accessories: Juggernaut figure, Crystal halves x2, Psychic Claw

Jean Grey

X-Men Battle Blasters - 1997

This Jean Grey is her from the Age of Apocalypse storyline and is probably the best figure in this lineup. It is strange that a decent normal Jean Grey still had not been made. The figure's body is a repaint of the Monster Armor line's Mystique figure and the prototype even has the Mystique head. For the final release she would get a newly sculpted head though. The tank that came with the figure didn't seem to work very well.

Figure ability: Catapult tank launcher
Accessories: Tank, Projectiles

Marvel Girl

Marvel Hall of Fame Series 6 - 1997

This Marvel Girl figure is a straight repaint of the Spider-Woman figure from the Iron Man line. The costume is of Jean Grey in her early X-Factor days and would actually be the second figure of her in her X-Factor outfit that she would get. She comes with the snap on psychic blades that the Ninja Force Psylocke came with.

Figure ability: None
Accessories: Psychic scythe, Psychic blade, Backpack

Marvel Girl

X-Men Original Members Boxed Set - 1998

This is Jean Grey when she first appeared as Marvel Girl. The figure has real hair instead of molded hair and is a bit shorter than most of the figures in this line. She is very detailed though and has a good deal of articulation.

Figure ability: None
Accessories: None

Marvel Girl

Miscellaneous Series Marvel Gold - 1998

Marvel Girl is another Jean Grey variant in an older outfit. This figure comes with a psychic knife that came with a Psylocke figure. Marvel Girl's head has a plastic mask added to it as well as a short skirt. This adds another figure to the X-Men line.

Figure ability: None
Accessories: Psychic knife

Jean Grey

Miscellaneous Series Famous Couples - 1999

This Jean Grey is of her in her later X-Factor outfit. The figure is a repaint of an Invisible Woman with a Medusa head. The figure is nice since there were no X-Factor Jean Grey figures yet.

Figure ability: None
Accessories: Cerebro unit, Psychic fist x2, Psychic spear
