Captain America

A hero who would get a bunch of figures in a whole bunch of different lines, although he really only had a few sculpts. All the later figures look pretty much the same, since he never changed his appearance much in the comics. It would be awhile until a good Captain America would come with a good shield accessory.

Marvel Super Heroes Series 1 - 1990

Marvel Super Heroes Series 4 - 1991

A very skinny version of a Captain America, but he is pretty well done. The scales on his chest are there and he does have alot of detail. He came with a launcher that would actually launch his shield.

Figure ability: Shield launcher

Captain America

Spider-Man Electro Shock - 1997

Miscellaneous Series Secret Wars - 2003

This Captain America is a much needed update to the Marvel Super Heroes figure. The figure itself is a little taller than most figures, as it is closer to a six inch scale, but it does not look too out of place. The only problem with this figure is the shield is not right, as it is very thick to fit the sparking mechanism in. This figure would be reused several times in various Captain America releases. He also comes with a hover jet that can fold into an examination table of sorts as well as a backpack and helmet that he can wear.

Figure ability: Sparking shield
Accessories: Hoverbike, Shield

Captain America

Avengers Series 1 - 1997

This Captain America is a remold of the one released in Spider-man Electro Spark series, but with a different head and an Avengers symbol on his belt. This figure also comes with a great shield, much better than the Spider-man release did. This figure would be one of the tougher ones to find in the series.

Figure ability: None
Accessories: Shield

Captain America

Miscellaneous Series Silver Age - 1999

This Captain America is painted a bit different than the others in that his costume and mask are not connected which is how he was drawn back in the 40s. The other big difference is that he comes with his classic 40s shield he carried in World War II, which is done very well and looks very good. Like the other versions of this figure, he is very articulated and painted very well.

Miscellaneous Series American Heroes - 1999

This Captain America figure is a straight repaint of the Spider-Man Electro Shock series figure with a new shield. The detail is as good as the first release, as well as the articulation. This one does come with a better shield which is the main advantage this figure has over the original.

Captain America

Video Game Series Marvel vs. Capcom - 1999

This Captain America is a repaint of the Silver Age one, but painted in his current outfit (the mask connects to the rest of the costume, unlike the Silver Age one). Other than that, the figure is basically the same as the other release. The paint jobs is good, so is the articulation and detail on the figure. This figure comes with a Morrigan figure.

Figure ability: None
Accessories: Shield

Captain America

Marvel Legends Series 1 - 2002

Captain America is probably the second best figure in the line, only second to Iron Man. This figure, like Iron Man is super articulated and has a very detailed sculpt. The only more detail they could have added was to sculpt the scales on his armor rather than just painting them on, but that is a small complaint. His shield comes with straps on the inside so you can attach it various places like his arm or put it on his back.

Figure ability: Articulation
Accessories: Sheild, Flag, Tank base, Tank base wall

Ultimate Captain America

Marvel Legends Series 8 - 2005

This is the first Ultimate Universe character that would be released in the Marvel Legends line as well as being a nice remake of Captain America. The figure itself is very detailed, with the scales in his chest being sculpted this time instead of painted. The face is very well done and the shield still comes with the straps so that it can be placed on his arm or back. The figure is a bit small though, at least the head seems that way to me. There are actually a few versions of this figure - one being a chase - but due to a factory error some were painted all blue like the chase is and some are painted correctly with the gray stripes on his legs and gray on his torso.

Figure ability: Articulation
Accessories: Sheild, America base
